The Colts started playing in the Heritage Junior Hockey League (HJHL) in 1989 as the Carstairs Colts. They played in Carstairs up to the 1995-1996 season and then did not play the 1996-1997 season.
The Mountain View Colts era began with the 1997 – 1998 season and has remained in Didsbury since then.
The Colts captured the HJHL Championship in the 2015-2016 season.
Hockey Alberta selected the Mountain View Colts as host team for the 2027 Junior B Provincial Championships.
