Alberta Junior B Hockey

Junior B hockey in Alberta has seen many leagues evolve over the years.

Today there are 5 leagues that operate in the the Junior B category:

  • Heritage Junior Hockey League (HJHL). Established in 1986. (40 year anniversary in 2026)
  • Capital Junior Hockey League (CJHL/CapJHL). Established in 1972 (55 year anniversary coming in 2027)
  • North Eastern Alberta Junior B Hockey League (NEAJBHL). Established in 1990
  • North West Junior Hockey League (NWJHL). Established in 1994
  • Calgary Junior Hockey League (CJHL/CalJHL). Established in 1945

For the 2027 Provincial Championship, each league will send their league champion team to join the host in the 6 team tournament.
